Paddles

One-of-a-kind paddles, individually designed, sketched and painted in acrylics
All paddles used are sourced locally from seconds. This gives each paddle another chance to shine. They are a beautiful addition to any home or cottage. The paddle styles vary from the Voyageur to Beavertail and Ottertail paddle. The wood types may be Ash, Birch, Maple, or Cherry. Most paddles are approximately 52" in length and 5-6 inches in width.  Keep reading to learn more about the design process.

The Process

  1. Paddle and design selection: I select the paddle I'm going to use based on the design created from a reference image. My reference images are sourced from my client’s designs, my collection of photos, or from a hand-picked group of Photographers that I follow and work with online.
  2. Design printing and wood sealing: Once the digital design is completed, I print it and overlay it onto the paddle. When the design looks right for what I want to achieve, I start preparing the paddle. This involves sealing the wood first then applying two coats of Gesso. Once the paddle is dry, I sketch the design by hand and use acrylics as my painting medium.
  3. Paddle and design painting: Once completed, I paint the back of the paddle black, sign it, and name it. Then I apply two coats of clear varnish. Each step needs to dry before moving forward to the next step. The result is always rewarding.
  4. Shipping & Delivery: The paddle is packed and shipped to the client wherever they may be.
